I highly recommend LightShot for Mac and Windows. Screenshots from phone cameras are now banned. Before I was using print screen and had to load it in gimp to crop it and scale it to size. It lets you take a customizable screenshot with a border drag feature and save just the area you want to capture. I came across this tool a few days ago and its pretty awesome so I just wanted to share, im sure there are others out there but for thoes that don't have and could use it's called Farlight.

Love that it's written in appkit as well! Will give it a try :). The fact that it calculates the distances for you instead of manually putting lines is amazing. I just finished a screenshot app (macOS) for people who care about their pixels. It can even annotate other images pasted from the clipboard and costs 1/2 of what CleanshotX does. It doesn't do video captures but can take a variety of screen capture types, can do scrolling captures, and has built-in annotations. App alternatives to Bartender and CleanShotX.I still think CSX is a fantastic tool particularly for recording videos but for screenshots I'm sticking back to the Flameshot.Īlso, Flameshot is free, cross-platform, and an open-source project. I never need to take the screenshot again because of the wrong selected area. In CSX you select an area and it opens in a new window and then you annotate but in Flameshot you can edit and annotate while still being able to resize captured area even for full-screen apps. The most productive feature I like in Flameshot which is missing from CSX is the ability to reselect the selected area even after taking the screenshot.

I've been using Flameshot ( ) and recently decided to try CleanShot X after much praise from the internet but it didn't leave up to the hype. I know this community loves CleanShot but here me out.
